It is a small milestone for the ultra triathlon and from the organizer’s point of view a big step security in for a successful realization of the premiere of the Double Ultra Triathlon Bad Radkersburg.
While many organizers of ultra events in Europe go their own ways apart from the professional associations responsible for multisport, it was a great concern for the organizer team to work together with the official professional association for triathlon in Austria, the ÖTRV.
“We are pleased that the Ultratriathlon has again found its place in the Austrian Triathlon Federation and its race calendar,” said organizer Andreas Wünscher. “Last year in particular showed how important the work of a professional association is for our sport. The Covid 19 prevention concept of the ÖTRV has already ensured last year that many events could be held successfully despite the pandemic. This is not least due to the intensive work of many voluntary and professional officials,” Wünscher continued.
This year, too, the concept was quickly adapted to current requirements and coordinated with the Austrian Ministry of Health. Through the ÖTRV approval, the event enjoys the status of a elite sporting event, which makes talks with authorities much easier, especially in these times, and in the past has made events possible even in times of hard lockdown. Especially since we also have a trained Covid-19 safety officer through the ÖTRV, who works out the concept together with the organizer and ensures that the event runs smoothly.
Another factor is the comprehensive insurance cover. With an ÖTRV annual license or the alternative daily license for the event, each participant enjoys the protection of accident insurance and other insurance benefits. In addition, the sporting regulations of the ÖTRV regulate all important sporting regulations, which are of course adapted in detail to the specifics of the ultra triathlon sport. Also in the area of anti-doping rules, the event is thus under the care of the National Anti-Doping Agency NADA as well as the World Anti-Doping Agency WADA.
