Proper and truthful entries in the registration documents are required! For the allocation of the swimming lanes, please indicate a swimming time that corresponds to the realistic performance level! It is not necessary to present a medical certificate of fitness – every participant should be responsible enough to be fit and healthy at the starting line.

Schedule:

The current schedule can be seen here.

1.    swimming

The swim starts according to the current schedule (exact start time will be announced in good time before the event) in the Parktherme Bad Radkersburg. The transition to the bike takes place in the Parktherme area near the pool. The transition area will be set up here before the start.

The pool is a FINA-certified 50-meter outdoor pool. The distance to be covered is 76 lengths (SINGLE ULTRA), 152 lengths (DOUBLE ULTRA) or 228 lengths (TRIPLE ULTRA). Laps are counted using lap counters. Catering during the swim is permitted at the edge of the pool on the opposite side to the start/timekeeping.

  • The wearing of a cold protection suit (neoprene) is permitted but not mandatory. In the event of low outside temperatures, the jury reserves the right to require the use of cold protection Other aids such as fins, snorkels or paddles are not permitted.
  • A maximum of one supervisor may be present in the transition area and at the edge of the pool.
  • Time limit for the swim:
  • SINGLE ULTRA: 2:45 hours
  • DOUBLE ULTRA: 4:00 hours
  • TRIPLE ULTRA: 6:00 hours

2.    cycling

After completing the swim, the transition to the bike takes place next to the pool in the Parktherme Bad Radkersburg. The transition area ends at the start of the feeder route. You have to push your bike for about 50 meters on a meadow before you are allowed to get on your bike. After reaching the Mount Line, there is a transfer of 1.3 kilometers on a bike path along the Mur River that is not accessible to traffic as well as a short section on public roads. After this transfer, the cycling part begins with 17/34/51 laps of 10.6 kilometers each. The number of laps is officially confirmed after the measurement!

  • Behavior on the bike course

The cycle route is on good, flat roads with little traffic. However, the route is not closed to road traffic and the STVO (road traffic regulations) apply. There are no traffic lights or active level crossings on the route, but there are some crossings and traffic circles where attention is required and priority rules must be observed. The instructions of the police and marshals must be followed at all times. Throwing away bike bottles or food outside the marked area in the paddock will result in disqualification without exception. The course must be viewed online in advance and marked with signs during the competition. Each athlete is responsible for knowing the course and finding his/her own way around.

  • Lighting/equipment

From 7 p.m. onwards, only lights may be used on the competition course. A white continuous light must be mounted on the bike in the direction of travel (not flashing, recognizable from a distance of at least 100m). The light may be battery-operated.

However, the rider must be able to be sufficiently illuminated at all times and be able to replace the lights or batteries if necessary. The light must be mounted on the bike. A helmet light is optional, but is not sufficient as the sole light source. A red continuous or flashing light must be mounted on the bike as a rear light, which must be switched on after 7 p.m. and must be visible from a distance of at least 150 meters. It is recommended that you wear reflective clothing and/or reflective strips on your bike and equipment at night. A crash helmet must be worn at all times when the rider is using the bike. The race number must be worn on the back and must always be visible so that it can be registered by the officials and marshals and recognized as a race participant by any motorists present. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that his/her bike and equipment meet all safety standards. The organizer or the judges reserve the right to prohibit participants from continuing their journey between 19:00 and 07:00 if the lighting is insufficient.

  • Slipstream rules/penalties

Cycling is an individual time trial without any personal escort. Slipstreaming behind or next to a participant or other non-motorized or motorized vehicles is prohibited. The minimum distance between the front wheel of the competitor in front and the front wheel of the athlete behind is 12 meters, and 2 meters to the side. The overtaking process must be completed after 30 seconds. Overtaken athletes are responsible for restoring the distance and can only then start an overtaking maneuver again. Motorized race marshals from the Austrian Triathlon Federation (ÖTRV) will ensure that the rules are adhered to when cycling. An 8-minute penalty will be imposed for slipstreaming, which must be served in the transition area after completing the bike section. Further penalties may be imposed for other offenses. The timekeeping chip must be worn for the entire duration of the race. Passing the timing chip on to other persons (with the exception of replacement by officials) will result in immediate disqualification.

  • Electronic devices

The use of electronic devices such as cell phones or the use of headphones for music or telephone is not permitted during the cycling competition. For safety reasons, a cell phone may be carried, but its use during the ride is prohibited. The use of bike computers/navigation devices is permitted, but care must be taken in all cases to ensure that their use does not cause distraction.

  • Guarding/storage

Each participant or their crew is responsible for their own safety and equipment. The organizer accepts no liability for damage, loss or theft of equipment. There is no permanent transition area after the end of the bike part. The bike and bike equipment must be stored by the crew.

Cut-Offs Bike

The bike course may be used until Sunday, August 30, 10:00 am. Note: There will be no marshals at the start from 07:00. This results in the following time limits:

DOUBLE (Swim+Bike) 24 hours

TRIPLE (Swim + Bike) 40 hours

3.    running

After completing the bike, the athlete changes from the bike to the running shoes in the zone designated in the paddock. Any time penalties imposed on the bike course must be served here. The bike will be taken into custody by the supervisor and will not remain in the transition area. The run course is an “eight lap” with an exact length of 2,1 kilometers, always passing the paddock. Each lap leads through the stadium and therefore past the toilets. The exact number will be announced in good time after the AIMS measurement and the final determination of the routes to the finish. Wearing reflective clothing at night is recommended. The route is adequately lit throughout, and you can use your own light for your own safety. Accompaniment on the running course is not permitted in principle, but is possible if it serves the safety of the respective athlete. Escorts on bicycles, scooters etc. are not permitted. Participants may either run or walk, the use of any aids is prohibited. All commercially available types of running shoes may be used, including carbon shoes. Final number of laps according to official measurement: SINGLE ULTRA: 20 laps, DOUBLE ULTRA 40 laps, TRIPLE ULTRA 60 laps

Time limits:

  • SINGLE ULTRA: 30 hours
  • DOUBLE ULTRA: 40 hours
  • TRIPLE ULTRA: 60 HOURS

4.    timekeeping

Timekeeping is carried out by the organizer using chip measurement. Only the numbers of laps and lengths specified in the announcement and at the race briefing apply. Cycling or running computers may of course be used, but are only for your own control. Officials can replace the chips after cycling or during the running competition if necessary in order to guarantee the functionality of the timekeeping. Lap times and lap numbers will be available for the supervisors in the paddock. The chip must be handed over to the timekeeper at the end of the event after the finish.

6. DOUBLE + TRIPLE AQUABIKE

In 2025, we are offering an AQUABIKE version for DOUBLE + TRIPLE for the first time. The race ends for the aquabike athlete after completing the bike part in the transition zone. After parking the bike in the transition zone, the AQUABIKE athlete completes his finish by crossing the official finish line – the distance from the transition zone to the finish line is only approx. 30 meters and must be covered without a bike. The respective AQUABIKE events start together with the triathlon events (TRIPLE – Friday 6 pm, DOUBLE Saturday 10 am). The same rules apply for AQUABIKE athletes as for the TRIATHLON. The schedule for Carbo Party/Briefing/Brunch is analogous to that of the respective TRIATHLON competition.

For reasons of fair competition and in compliance with the rules of the IUTA, it is not possible for DOUBLE and TRIPLE ULTRA TRIATHLON starters to switch to the AQUABIKE variant during the ongoing competition. If they finish the competition after cycling, they will be classified as DNF.

7.    cancellation insurance

When registering, participants have the option of taking out external cancellation insurance. This is a separate contract with Europäische Reiseversicherung. Under certain circumstances, up to 100 percent of the entry fee can be refunded if participation is prevented. You can find the link to the travel/cancellation insurance here.
